Bartolomé and Santiago Islands

Today we started our activities with an early walk to the summit of Bartolomé Island. Bartolomé is a small island located on the east coast of Santiago Island. It offers a very interesting volcanic landscape. Lava flows, lava tunnels, spatter cones, tuff cones and volcanic ash, make the island an open book of Geology. The view from the top is stunning; the volcanic formations along with green plants by the beach and the golden sand create the perfect picture. Later in the morning we snorkeled around the pinnacle rock and much enjoyed all the different species of colorful fish.

In the afternoon we visited Puerto Egas located on the western side of Santiago Island.
We landed on a black sand beach and offered our visitors snorkeling around the area.
They all had a wonderful time encountering colorful fish, rays and marine turtles. Later in the afternoon we went for a walk along the shoreline and observed many marine iguanas basking in the sun, sea lions and shore birds. The tide was low and we could explore the tide pools. It was a very relaxing walk with a great environment surrounding us. We all had a terrific day!
