The morning today is beautiful, clear and sunny. By the time we have our expedition leader sharing the weather update, we know this is going to be great day. Yes, we have no doubt about it. The National Geographic Endeavour anchors in front of the destination of the day, North Seymour Island, where the plan is to disembark with naturalist groups first followed by photography groups right after. After dry landing and choosing our paths, we find our first encounters right away. We give ourselves a minute on a cliff where the opportunity to photograph birds in flight is fantastic. Not too far from where we have the first nice encounter with the flying bird parade, we see the first Galapagos iguana male in the company of three females. He seems to be concerned with digging a burrow nest. But they are not the only attractions in the area: we have a bunch magnificent frigate birds and blue footed boobies along the path and before we realize it, we have been on the island for two hours already and we are not close to the end yet. Following the path, we make it to the coast where sea lions stop us one more time for a great photography moment. It was incredible how quickly this part of the day felt.
The afternoon adventure took place on a different island called Rabida. It is all red because of the high iron concentration on it. Here all expedition options are available, starting with kayaking along the coast of the island where peace and calm water areas make the activity highly enjoyable with the company of sea lions and birds around. Another group of explorers will go deep water snorkeling with the tropical and reef fish, and some more of our enthusiastic explorers will disembark on the beach to swimming and snorkeling there. Everyone is back on the ship by 5:00 p.m. and soon after we changed, National Geographic Endeavour explorers land on the beach of Rabida Island for a nice walk to see sea lions and walk close to the shorebirds on the coast. We hope the sun will be setting as they walk, to offer the last of the natural shows we can get on this island. It was another great day in the islands.
