Our last full day of this Remarkable Journey began by pulling out all of the stops at the beautiful bay called Honeymoon. Every option available was on offer including hiking, kayaking, cruising, and snorkeling. Isla Danzante is truly the best of both worlds; where the desert meets the sea.
Everything from grand views, stately cardon cactus, bow-riding bottlenose dolphins, leaping mobulas, nesting osprey, soaring frigates, and abundant reef life were on display. We drank it all in deeply under the bright Baja sun.
In the last two weeks we have created so many shared experiences, today was the day to contemplate all the magic of this journey. For many of us the Baja Peninsula is figuratively in our backyard, and yet the vastness and remoteness make it otherworldly.
Endeavoring to keep our rendezvous with our departure we continued south, but multiple groups of long beaked common and bottlenose dolphins, and a trio of Bryde’s whales had other ideas. At one point an adult Bryde’s whale inspected the bow of the National Geographic Sea Bird, first on the starboard side and over to the port side, only to finally surface directly under the bow. Much to our delight, the whale had us rushing from one side of the ship to the other, following its every movement.
How remarkable of a journey is it? While the 2015 expedition is nearly full, some are signing up on board for 2016 Remarkable Journey. Guests have gathered from as far away as Australia, the United Kingdom, Holland, Canada, and all regions of the United States. For several guests this is their fourth Remarkable Journey, testimony of just how remarkable it is to be in this place at this time.
