The DER below is from the expedition to Cuba that began on January 18, 2017.

Our first full day in Havana, and my first time in Cuba! I feel like I have been transported back to the 1950s as everywhere I look there are vintage cars all around me. Chevrolets, Fords, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Plymouths with an occasional Russian Lada thrown in just to remind me of the Cuban ties to the Soviet Union. If you are a car buff then Havana is simply Nirvana for you!

Our morning was spent touring old Havana and its magnificent squares, streets, and neighborhoods. In the afternoon many of us chose to go to Finca Vigia, Ernest Hemingway’s estate on the outskirts of Havana. We then strolled the coastline at the small fishing village of Cojímar. Our day was capped with a scrumptious dinner at La Barraca restaurant, where we enjoyed traditional Creole food. Bienvenidos a Havana!
