Genovesa (Tower) Island is bird heaven. It is the island that holds the largest population of red-footed boobies, the largest population of masked boobies and two very dense populations of storm petrels. This may sound like a lot, but the list goes on.

Aside from all the sea birds, we also find shore birds such as the yellow-crowned night heron (Nyctanassa violacea). This bird is mainly nocturnal, but also feeds during the daytime -- the reason we managed to capture this beautiful bird with our ship, the Polaris, in the background!

Today's water temperature: 79 degrees.
