Drake Passage

Our good luck with the weather continued and we enjoyed the calm seas throughout the day. There was lots of time to reflect on all the great experiences we had the last five days. We learned from Bob Smith , one of our photo experts, what to do with all the thousands of images we took. The lounge was a busy place throughout the day with people editing their photos and sharing stories about the great shots they took.

Stefan Lundgren also gave a fascinating presentation about his years working at India’s research station in the Ross Sea. His pictures were breathtaking and as always his stories were amusing.

We heard from National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry about two of his upcoming stories. It was a great opportunity to see some of his incredible images before they are published in the magazine.

It was a relaxing day, which ended with a chance to watch a film about Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance Expedition. It was a great reminder of how fortunate we were to experience this part of the world in such comfort on the National Geographic Explorer!
