This morning after a smooth canal crossing; the National Geographic Sea Lion headed off the Bay of Panama and dropped anchor in front of Bona Island. Then we offered two rounds of expedition landing craft cruises to our guest to explore the nesting site of some pelagic birds such as: brown pelican, brown boobies and magnificent frigate birds and the put a great show for us while we were there. Pelicans were carrying sticks and pieces of branches to make their nest and frigate birds were also doing their nest in another part of the island. Several brown boobies chicks along the crevices were seen as well, and last but not least Blue footed boobies also were sighted in our two expedition landing craft rounds.

We returned to the vessel and headed 120 nautical miles to visit Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge. This island is a gem in central pacific of Panama and it is an exotic terrain that emerged out of tectonic movement thereby, its big basalt rocks formation in certain parts of the island. Coral reef formation is present as well.
