Today we made a very early morning outing to Bartolome Island, one of the most popular islands in the archipelago due to its outstanding views and breathtaking landscape. We hiked to the top of the island where we observed Pinnacle Rock and enjoyed a vigorous hike to the summit. Later, we took guests for a Zodiac ride to find Galapagos penguins, one of the iconic species found in this place.
After a delicious breakfast, we put on our swimsuits and picked up our snorkeling gear to enjoy the crystal-clear waters around Pinnacle Rock. Sea lions and penguins came to visit and greet us as our guests enjoyed the Pacific Ocean.
Our day was not over, and we set sail towards the northeast side of Santa Cruz Island. We went on a hike to explore the place and to look for the highlight of our afternoon: Galapagos land iguanas. The trail took us along a brackish water lagoon and through a dry palo santo forest. We explored the area, and finches, mockingbirds, and Galapagos flycatchers came very close to us.
We were amazed by the golden sunset on the way back to our floating hotel, National Geographic Islander II.
