Delfin II
Amazonas Nature Park and Pucate River
Before sunrise, we departed Delfin II to explore the riverbank of the Marañon River. As we ventured out, the sun began to rise like a red-hot disk above the majestic green forest, illuminating the riverbank. Parakeets, saddle-back tamarin monkeys, and three-toed sloths were spotted all before breakfast. After breakfast, we went on a hike to Amazonas Nature Park and learned about the very intricate relationships among the trees and plants of a high-elevation forest. A local healer and plant medicine woman, Carola, provided a demonstration of the medicinal plants of the Amazon. After lunch, we explored Pucate River by kayak and later by skiffs in search of wildlife. Our guests had an extraordinary time on their first full day here in the Upper Amazon.
