The Peruvian Upper Amazon region is big and there’s a lot to still be explored. There are about 240 small villages along the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers; most of these people make a living fishing, farming and hunting.
Today we had the opportunity to visit two communities. They have decided to protect their natural resources so that people can come inside their territories and they can use ecotourism to help them live.
The Amazon region faces many challenges and negative effects because of the human impact in many Amazonian areas. The good news is that about a quarter of the Amazon region is already protected by reserves and national parks in most South American Amazonian countries.
