Morning in the Drake Passage brought smoother seas, and we started our day with an introduction to “The Seabirds of the Southern Ocean,” by Naturalist Jackie. After the talk, naturalists and guests alike gathered on the outer decks to witness firsthand some of the incredible birds she talked about so passionately.
During the day, we had briefings on Zodiac operations and biosecurity, and we ensured that all our gear was thoroughly inspected and cleaned before we arrive in Antarctica tomorrow. We also had an iPhone and smartphone photography talk from National Geographic Certified Photo Instructor Jim; it was “lifechanging,” according to some!
The day was rounded off by the Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party and an incredible evening meal. Tomorrow, we look forward to the possibility of ice and penguins and Antarctica!
