This was our last day of exploration, but the exuberant forest of the Upper Amazon still had surprises in store for us. We had our first outing after breakfast to explore Supay Caño, a wonderful area to see birds and monkeys. Our highlight was the pygmy marmoset, which we found for the first time on this week. Although it’s difficult to spot this little creature, we were lucky to have a lot of time to find the right spot to watch the curious behavior of this wonderful primate. With great excitement, we came back for lunch, and to learn about the departure logistics for tomorrow. After lunch, guests shared their best images, which will be part of a slideshow with the photos we have been taking during the week.
In the afternoon, we visited Puerto Miguel, a very charming small village. Here we had our last experience visiting a local river community, walking on a trail along an abandoned town to reach a small creek, which hosts a vast amount of the iconic giant water lillies.
At night, we had our cocktail hour and celebrated a wonderful week of exploration, enjoying the slideshow that included wonderful shots of people and wildlife that our guests and photography crew shared. After dinner, one of our guests, a luminous, wise and charming woman, shared a very touching poem of her own creation. The poem talked about the whole Amazon experience and it was a way of saying thanks to all the crew and guests. This is the kind of moments where we all become family and connect through a happy celebration of life. We were all thankful to the hard-working Peruvian crew for a fantastic week, and for their knowledge, care, passion and even great music that they eagerly share.
