Today we visited an island like no other, one very rich in human history. Located near the center of the Galapagos archipelago, Santiago Island is one of the most beautiful and interesting islands. It also happens to be the last island visited by Charles Darwin during his famous Voyage of the Beagle.
National Geographic Endeavour II guests started the day early in the morning with a pre-breakfast activity at “Caleta Bucanero,” located on the west side of Santiago Island. We enjoyed a fantastic kayak along the coast, where a group of dolphins played with us. After a delicious breakfast, we went for a second round of kayaking and paddleboarding. Some of us went snorkeling or took tours in the glass-bottom boat. We had the chance to enjoy the beauty of the sea with lots of sea life. We spotted dolphins, golden rays, tintoreras, Galapagos sharks, and many colorful fish.
After lunch, we navigated towards Puerto Egas, where we offered guests a couple of options: a nature walk along the coast or an afternoon on the beach. Both options were fantastic. We found lots of marine and land iguanas, sea lions, and migratory birds. After an incredible sunset, we ended another amazing day in paradise! Today’s visit was outstanding!
