After a smooth navigation we dropped anchor off the coast of Playa “Espumilla” and the wet landing lead us to explore the coastline area of the beach. Galapagos hawks, yellow warblers, Galapagos mockingbirds, and a large mangrove forest were experienced. We were lucky to spot a Galapagos hawk eating one of the introduced rats.

Buccaneer Cove was our next destination where we had a Zodiac ride in order to explore the Galapagos Marine Reserve. As we ventured further the presence of a white-tipped reef shark gave us a sneak peek of part of the underwater ecosystem.

Some of us decided to go kayaking and glass bottom boating around the coastline of Buccaneers cove.

Once back onboard we offered yet another option to explore, kayaking.  Blue footed boobies resting on rocks, brown noddies nesting on the cliffs, and brown pelicans plunging form the trees were part of the kayaking experience which impressed us.

During the afternoon, activities brought us to one of the most iconic places of the Galapagos Islands, Puerto Egas. After a comfortable wet landing on a black sand beach, we entered a world that is home to several Galapagos species. As soon as we arrivede Galapagos sea lions gave us a great welcome show. Once we further explored the island the landscape consisted of giant tuff cones and lava flows. The highlight of the visit was witnessed once we reached the farthest point, Galapagos fur seals.

What an amazing day for exploration around the enchanted archipelago.
