We started our day early with a beautiful sunrise in Academy Bay on Santa Cruz Island.
Our expedition began at the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and our visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station where we learned about the different conservation initiatives for Galapagos species. We also visited Lonely George!
Then we continued to the upper part of the island where we visited the first farm in Galapagos that works with a hydroponic system, an example of the sustainability on the islands.
During the afternoon, we visited Rancho Manzanillo where we were able to see the giant tortoises in their natural habitat. They are one of the largest reptiles and the most iconic species of the Galapagos.
At the end of our day, we enjoyed the performance of local artists who came on board and played and danced to songs about the Galapagos.
