Today is one of the most exciting days of our expedition. We started the day visiting the Charles Darwin Foundation and their giant tortoise breeding center. We got to see up close one month-old baby giant tortoises from different species. It was very special to see them as tiny little babies and then compare them with the giant adults. It is very impressive to see how large they get in 100 years.
Having the opportunity to explore the Highlands of Santa Cruz is something that we can’t miss. Today, giant tortoises were everywhere. We saw at least three couples mating along the trail. We had a very exciting afternoon taking videos and pictures of them in their natural habitat and learning about their behavior.
