Today we visited the second largest island in the Galapagos. The hub of tourism and conservation. Today is giant tortoise day.

Early in the morning we started the days disembarking at Puerto Ayora. We took a short bus drive searching for our favorites giants, the Galapagos tortoises.  Here we also have the two institutions that work together for conservation sake. The Galapagos National Park Service and the Charles Darwin research station. After a 15 minutes’ walk we reached the corals and saw them walking and interacting with each other.

Afterwards, time at the town, many fun areas but the best, I think, is the fisherman’s dock. We reunited at the Rock and drove to the highlands for a local farm where they harvest the sugar cane and coffee.

Lunch and then walk among giants at a local ranch where Santa Cruz Giant tortoises roam freely.

Soon after back to the town of Puerto Ayora and finally back to the ship ready for another day.
