This morning we stated our day paying an early visit to the shore of the Marañón River, as the river rises due to the rains across this magnificent forest there are more opportunities to reach ponds and flooded forests. This morning before breakfast we boarded our fleet of skiffs to explore the new flooded land home to a diversity of birds and mammals. Among the sightings we had Jacanas, several sloths, yellow headed caracaras and a magnificent sunrise!

Later in the morning we visited a small community called San Jorge located on the banks of the Marañón River. There are around 500 people living in this village, they are fishermen and farmers. The women are artisans they make beautiful handicrafts and they sell them to visitors. Here we had the opportunity to meet the local leaders and to listen to their stories about life and education in this remote place.

Later on in the afternoon we visited a different place. It is a small river called Nauta that offers to the visitor a rich wildlife. The surrounding trees are tall and many have plenty of fruits. These trees are the meeting points of many creature including the Chestnut eared Aracari. Here, we had the opportunity to explore the area form kayaks and skiffs. One of the most interesting sightings was a pod of river dolphins foraging close to the Delfín II and a flock of horned screamers perching on floating vegetation. As we explored the area there were many more interesting sightings such as iguanas, black collared hawks, and a troop of cute saddle back tamarin monkeys!
