We continued our exploration of the Pacaya Samiria Natural Reserve, just after breakfast, visiting the lively San Francisco community. In this place, we experienced how people live nowadays in the Upper Amazon.
A central point in this visit, is the meaningful encounter with some Minga Peru beneficiaries. The latter is a non-governmental organization, founded in 1998, that has as their main mission the promotion of social justice and human dignity for women and their families in remote rural areas of the Peruvian Upper Amazon. Projects like the technical training in agroforestry, crop cultivation and the construction and management of fish ponds has given economical sustainability of many people of the area. Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic support these valuable efforts through the LEX-NG Fund gathering vital funds for all these projects.
In the afternoon, we explored Yarapa Caño. This narrow creek was as its best today for we saw many rainforest creatures like monkeys and birds. A beautiful sunset told us that it was time to come back to our home away from home this week the cozy Delfin II.
