After a comfortable navigation during the night, we have arrived at Punta Pitt, the northeastern part of the Galapagos Archipelago in San Cristobal Island.
This area has an amazing landscape all around. The tuff cone erosion of the hills due to the trade winds and sea currents have given it a canyon-like appearance. The sunny morning started with a hike up to the top of this hill, where our guests encountered blue-footed boobies in the middle of the trail, many red-footed boobies in the trees, and some local lava lizards running away when we all passed by.
While some were hiking, the rest of the groups took the Zodiac ride and went for an adventure at sea around the coast, with the idea to spot some more seabirds. Which was not too difficult, as there were probably hundreds of frigate birds resting on the cliffs, lots of red-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls, and as it was low tide, several shore birds, finches and yellow warblers on the naked lava having a feast.
After the morning activities, we all ended up at the golden beach of this beautiful bay and many of us went snorkeling, sunbathing, relaxing, taking pictures, etc. This morning the sea lions were part of the show in the water. They were very friendly and ready to play with some of our guests, who loved this beautiful encounter and categorized it as the best experience of the week.
Onboard the lunch was delightful, with organic food from Galapagos farms and the most delicious gluten-free lava cookies!
In the afternoon, the farewell visit to Cerro Brujo surprised us with a beach full of sea lions basking in the sand and nursing the newborn pups: a perfect way to end this amazing trip in the Enchanted Islands.
