Last night we navigated to the eastern side of the archipelago, course to San Cristobal Island. We woke up surrounded by an amazing landscape at Punta Pitt. The tuff cones had been eroded by time making of the area a piece of art! Our landing site was a beautiful inorganic sandy beach, green in color… Sea lions were waiting for us.

Being on one of the oldest islands today, gave us the opportunity to understand the dynamics of the archipelago. How species adapt to their environment. We spotted some endemic species, not just to the Galapagos but endemic to this island. The San Cristobal mocking bird is an emblematic bird due to the role it had for Darwin’s ideas. The lava lizard is different too. We hiked up a hill which took us to an amazing area covered with Galapagos carpet weed, this red vegetation adds color to an outstanding scenery. We saw blue footed bobbies nesting along the trail, Nazca bobbies were spotted along the shore - but our highlight was about to come - on the sky we finally spotted red footed bobbies flying very close to us, and then landing in front of us on their nesting sites. The day was complete! We had just on one day the three species of boobies which live in Galapagos!

After the hike we had some amazing time on the beach just to relax and enjoy of the playful sea lions.

During lunch time we moved closer to the western side of the island: Cerro Brujo. We had our last afternoon in this breathtaking beach… white sand this time, turquoise waters, sea lions, blue skies, and of course the company of our new friends that have joined us during this week onboard, we all enjoyed of this place! That’s the memory we will take with us from this trip. Galapagos is a magical place where we as humans, can be part of nature and live in harmony with the other species which share with us this planet. If we can do it here we can do it everywhere!
