It’s a lovely Friday morning at Punta Pitt. We woke up surrounded by juvenile red-footed boobies in flight. They are curious and approach the ship, and some even land on its railings. But we get a better look from the Zodiacs, while exploring the coast and small islets of the area. Our hike that takes us to a tall hill, from where we see the contrast between the red of sesuviums (a succulent bush), the yellowish brown of tuff (volcanic ash), and the blue ocean (the vast Pacific Ocean).
Our young explorer take the opportunity to learn how to drive the Zodiacs, while our guests play with sea lions in the water, or sun bath at the beach. All the while juvenile red-footed boobies keep flying around us, always curious, and always close.
In the afternoon we snorkel at Leon Dormido, for close encounters with sharks, and we find dozens. From the ship, during sunset, we are amazed at the beauty of this same islet, just from a much higher perspective, as we circumnavigate it several times, to make sure we do not miss any bit of its entire beauty.
It definitely was a lovely Friday here in the Galapagos!
