National Geographic Venture anchored this morning at Puerto Refugio on the northernmost part of Angel de la Guarda Island. A group of brave explorers woke up at six in the morning and embarked on Zodiac cruises to observe a magnificent sunrise and to play with curious bottlenose dolphins and sea lions. Other guests and Naturalists took excursions to the island to see plants in bloom and birds. Some also encountered two massive, endemic Angel de la Guarda Island spectacled rattlesnakes!
Later, the ship moved to Bahia de los Angeles on the peninsula and made it to the Valle de los Cirios to observe the odd looking boojum tree, or cirio, a plant related to the ocotillo and found only in this area.
