Our final day in Antarctica, and what a finale the Great White Continent has given us! We started the day with a visit to the historic ‘Base A’ at Port Lockroy, which was originally established in the 1940s as part of the top-secret British project ‘Operation Tabarin’. We then began our journey north, and Antarctica seemed determined to give us a good send-off. While travelling up the Gerlache Strait, we encountered three pods of orcas, including the ‘Type A’ ecotype - one of the most spectacular predators in Antarctica.
