The DER below is from the expedition to Cuba that began on January 11, 2017.

Today we traveled to the Bay of Pigs area, famous for the ill-fated invasion in 1961. Here we visited the local museum dedicated to the battle that lasted only 72 hours, then headed to the beach for snorkeling and diving in the azure Caribbean Sea. Meanwhile, others headed to the Zapata wetlands on a birding expedition that yielded more than 40 species and a dozen endemics. Cuba has 103 designated natural areas, protecting more than 20% of the country, including national parks and marine reserves.
