Today the guests aboard National Geographic Venture were able to explore a quintessential Southeast Alaskan fishing town, Petersburg Alaska. It was also the first day guests were able to experience the Tongass National Forest. A variety of activities were offered, including the Haa Aani Cultural Tour learning about the history and life of the Tlingit people, the Ravens Roost hike leading to a beautiful muskeg and learning about life in Petersburg, and time to explore town. Everyone had a fun-filled day of exploration, learning and being emersed in the lifestyle of Southeast Alaska.
To top off the wonderful day, guests came back on board to cocktail hour along with recap and outline of what the next day’s adventures would be. Dinner was then served, an all you can eat Dungeness crab fest with a dessert of key lime pie. An after-dinner presentation was given about Alaska’s geology, by naturalist Rob Edwards. It was a wonderful day of exploring Alaska’s coastal wilderness!
