Early wake up for all of us aboard the Delfin II today. it was time to get a great breakfast to pack good energies for our best day of the expedition. As usual one by one our skiff started to depart on a new day’s expedition, this time, the Natural Reserve of Pacaya Samiria. A place full of flora and fauna.
The day started with some herons and egrets, kingfishers and hawks looking at us curiously about the new visitors in the area. Some of these were species we met before, and many of them were totally new for our guests, like the gorgeous hoatzin, always posing for our cameras with their particular crest.
As we kept getting deeper and deeper into this reserve more and more fauna started to appear. Horned screamers, black caimans and the “jackpot” of the day, the very shy monk saki monkey was seated on a very low branch, like it was saying hello to everyone.
Finally we all reached the “PV2” Rangers Station where our kitchen team had a surprise for all of us, a delicious picnic lunch at the most remote area our expedition would visit here at the Upper Amazon.
It was time to return to our ship and the amazing fauna of this area didn’t stopped surprising us. This time various groups of capybaras and for the luckiest ones a quick view of a jaguar that came to the river to drink water. What a day for our guests, what a day for all of us as well.
