Our day started with an early morning excursion to the island of North Seymour in the central realm of Galapagos. This morning we had a great walk, we encountered Galapagos sea lions sunbathing, Galapagos marine iguanas as well as large colonies of blue footed boobies and great, magnificent frigate birds.

Every week is different and one of the things we noticed was the increasing number of juvenile blue footed boobies covered in their white down coat. There were few fledglings that were particularly curious about us, and came to inspect us up close and personal.

There were also several couples of swallow tailed gulls which had several juveniles and some of these couples were preening each other while others were protecting their nests.

Sometimes along the trail we found Galapagos land iguanas, some colorful adult males and a few females. These reptiles are herbivores and some were actively feeding on the scarce vegetation along the coast.

After this great morning we continued to our next destination: the island of Rábida. On this island we went kayaking, snorkeling, and also had our first outing on the glass bottom boat. Once we finished with these activities, we returned aboard to change into dry clothes and headed to the shore for a great scenic walk. Along our walk we found Galapagos sea lions resting on the soft, red, sandy beach as well as a pair of busy American Oyster catchers looking for food along the shore.

We ended our day with a great sunset on the island.
