For this first full day, we anchored at North Seymour Island located on the north side of Baltra Island, officially known as South Seymour. On this uplifted island, we explored the inner part of the dry forest of scalescias as well as its coastlines. After we explored the land and sea, it was no wonder to us why North Seymour is also known as “Bird Island.” This special place holds a great community of marine birds, such as blue footed boobies, two species of frigatebirds, and a swallow-tailed gull (the only nocturnal gull).
In the afternoon as we snorkeled, we explored the underwater world of a red-colored beach on Rábida Island. Finally, to close an epic day, we took a stroll on an iron-oxide beach. Along the trail we adventured to a salt-water lagoon with white-cheeked pin-tailed ducks, sandpipers, and a flamboyance of American flamingos!
