The final day of our expedition on National Geographic Venture was sunny and packed with activities, both onboard and off. From San Ignacio Lagoon, we sailed down the coast overnight and entered Magdalena Bay, another gray whale calving lagoon along the Pacific coast of the Baja California Peninsula. In the morning we had our choice between kayaking or a Zodiac cruise through a mangrove channel, where an array of herons, egrets, and shorebirds were spotted.

The ship repositioned a short distance that afternoon to a place where guests could visit the dunes of Isla Magdalena, swim off Pacific coast, or walk and explore the great expanse of the adjoining beach.

The day culminated with a festive Captain’s farewell cocktail party, including the viewing of the guest slide show and dinner. We leave with many memories for treasuring, gratitude for our exceptional staff and crew, and revere for the natural world that makes it all possible.

Until next time!
