“You will get a chance to sleep on the plane home!”

After a massive night of wedding celebrations yesterday on the fast ice we awoke early this morning to another spectacular Antarctic day with blue skies as far as the eye could see.

After breakfast we headed up on deck to view the remarkable scenery of the Lemaire Channel. The ship was not able make it all the way through the channel with a large fog bank and gigantic icebergs blocking the narrow southern-most exit. Not wanting to waste this beautiful weather, the Zodiacs were quickly lowered and we all enjoyed a cruise through the channel instead.

After lunch we arrived at our afternoon destination of Neko Harbour. We trekked up to a high ridge overlooking an amazing glacier and large gentoo penguin colony. After the steep hike many of us choose the easy way down—sliding on our bums!
