Our first morning on Lord of the Glens provided two options, visiting Eilean Donan Castle or taking a nature walk through the woodlands on the edge of Kyle of Lochalsh. Both outings provided a great start to our Highland exploration. Then we set sail, heading southwest towards our next stop, Armadale.
At Armadale, we disembarked to visit the Clan Donald Centre with the Armadale Castle and Botanical Gardens. This Highland estate is the ancestral home to the Macdonald clan and has an excellent museum telling the clan’s history.
Then it was onward to the small village of Inverie on the Knoydart Peninsula, home to the most remote pub on mainland Britain. After an evening talk by an Inverie local, many headed off to the Old Forge pub for a pint or two.
