This morning we awoke aboard the Lord of the Glens for our first full day here in the Highlands of Scotland. We set out to visit Eileen Donan Castle. This iconic castle was a terrific place to take pictures and learn the history of this structure that was built in the 1200s.
During lunch, the Lord of the Glens set sail for the Isle of Skye. We arrived at Armadale on the Sleat Peninsula. This is home to Armadale Castle, Gardens, and Museum of the Isles. This is one of the most beautiful gardens to visit; due to the temperate climate on the peninsula, the garden is home to an abundance of plant life.
For the evening, we arrived at the Knoydart Peninsula and the community of Inverie. Along the way, we encountered a small pod of common dolphins that enjoyed riding in our wake. After dinner, we took a stroll over to the newly renovated Old Forge Pub — the most remote bar in the U.K.! It was a great first day in the Highlands, and we are looking forward to the rest of the week here aboard the Lord of the Glens.
