This vast green jungle is home to countless bird species. Some are commonly seen, but others not so often — such as the paradise tanager and the cream-colored woodpecker. Today we spotted them both as the birds were starting their morning activities (which is basically courtship and foraging). We also observed toucans, omnivorous birds that cover long ranges gathering fruits and insects.
In the afternoon we explored Yarapa Creek; we set out in our skiffs, navigating along the river through the forest. As you go deeper into the forest the possibility of finding new species of creatures increases. And these low-water creeks are also home to the magnificent giant lily pads.
