The captain and crew of Sea Cloud really started the voyage with a bang as they raised all the sails so we could see the magnificence of this 4-masted bark. Captain John Svendsen explained exactly what was going on as the sailors scaled the masts to unfurl the sails.
In the afternoon we sailed into the harbor of Hvar, Croatia and used the tenders to get to shore where there were multiple activities available. Some hiked up to the top of the hill to see the medieval castle, Fortica, whilst others chose to relax at the beach or find a café to watch the Croatia vs Albania soccer match! The majority went on a guided tour around town to see the monastery, theater, and wander the narrow streets of the old town to learn about its history.
We finished the day back on board with the captain’s cocktail hour and welcome dinner.
