Today was an absolutely stunning day on board National Geographic Sea Bird as we awoke to bluebird conditions. We hopped on a bus and were transported to WAAAM, which is a wonderful museum housing functional planes and automobiles. It was incredible getting to walk through this vast space and marvel at everything. We then took a short bus ride to Draper Girls Farm, where we sampled delicious fruit and even got a jar of their homemade jam.
After lunch, some of us went for a gorgeous hike up Beacon Rock, while others visited Multnomah Falls and the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. Multnomah Falls is the largest in Oregon and the second largest in the country. Here we learned some tips for long exposure and took beautiful photographs. At the hatchery we walked the grounds and saw white sturgeon and salmon. As we returned to the ship we watched a beautiful sunset, with the moon rising over the hills. We were treated to a special dinner on the sundeck as we traversed the Bonneville Lock — the last of the eight locks we have passed through on our journey.
