The Inian Islands never disappoint! After a morning of lovely hikes and kayaks at George Island, learning about the history of WWII-era naval presence and an 18-ton gun, guests explored the islands of Cross Sound in Zodiacs. We toured through strong tides to view Steller sea lions, sea otters, bald eagles, pigeon guillemots, cormorants, and gulls galore! Despite the rain, everyone had such a thrill in perhaps all the naturalists’ favorite spot along our southeast Alaska itineraries.
After our tours, we got to land in the Hobbit Hole cove and were welcomed by Zach Brown, co-director of the Tidelines Institute, to view this beautifully tucked away field-school focused on youth climate education.
Thanks for another great day aboard National Geographic Sea Lion!
