National Geographic Islander II arrived early in the morning and dropped anchor at Gardner Bay. This beautiful, crystalline, turquoise bay is located on the northern side of Espanola Island. Our guests had a fantastic time kayaking, snorkeling, and walking along the beach among sea lions.
In the afternoon, we explored the other side of the island, known as Punta Suarez. We hiked among thousands of birds, marine iguanas, and sea lions. The most iconic species of bird inhabiting this island is the very unique waved albatross, which our guests observed from a close distance. We watched part of their courtship ritual.
