Curu Wildlife Refuge & Tortuga Island

Early in the morning the Sea Voyager anchored in front of Curu, a private wildlife reserve located in the Nicoya peninsula. During the landing the weather was promising some water, which at the end was reserved for the later afternoon.

During the hike we enjoyed very active wildlife: lots of mantled and white faced monkeys, lineated and pale billed woodpeckers as well as some reptiles and amphibians made our walk very productive.

As we returned to the vessel, we enjoyed the symphony of dozens of orange chinned parakeets flying around heading towards their roosting site for the night.

In the afternoon and after repositioning the Sea Voyager from Isla Tortuga we disembarked. It was the time to kayak, swim and play soccer on the beach and even though it rained a bit, the water was not able to stop our enthusiasm! In fact it was a plus as the waters of the Pacific in these parts of the world are deliciously warm, contrasting with the cooler rain water.

Our day ended with lots of happy faces returning to the ship to continue our voyage to the northern part of the country to another beautiful spot.
