Murcielago Island

Today we visited one of the most beautiful locations at the northwestern part of Costa Rica, Murcielago Islands. Murcielago Islands belongs to the Guanacaste Conservation Area. It is one of the oldest protected geological remnants of today’s Costa Rican territories. It provides a great diversity of marine life. Many of these creatures can find shelter and food between its rocky submerged borders.

The Islands received us early this morning. We were escorted by pan tropical spotted dolphins that were happily moving around the Sea Voyager while we were about to arrive to our first destination.

After breakfast we began our disembarking maneuvers. Once on the beach some of the guests were exploring the principal island while others were enjoying snorkeling, kayaking or simply swimming in these beautiful crystal waters.

The beauty of the view was a very stimulating part of the morning. We returned for lunch and repositioned at Culebra Bay. This later gave us the chance to visit a small estuary formed by a nice patch of mangrove. While we were exploring the mangroves by Zodiac, others decided to do it with kayaks.

Howler monkeys, white ibis and other animals were part of the wildlife we found while exploring the mangrove. Afterwards we traveled to a small, whitish sand beach for some extra fun time. At this location our guests welcomed the sunset which exploded in a magical set of tonalities against the clouds.
