Today we made a sunrise landing on the mainland of Mexico south of Puerto Libertad. We ventured to this place in seach of the rare and unusual "Boojum" trees. These strange plants were named by explorer Godfrey Sykes in 1922 for the mythical creature of this name in Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark."

Boojums are often described as resembling an enormous upside-down carrot. There is one pictured here next to its close relative, the ocotillo plant.
