Santa Catalina Island is famous for its bizarre wildlife: giant endemic barrel cactus; hundred-year-old and multi-branched cardon cactus; and rattle-less rattlesnakes. This relative of the Ocotillo is a huge shrub of more than 15 feet in height, which covered an area of 440 square feet!
