Bartolome Island
We woke up in front of Bartolome, the island of all kinds of volcanoes and geological features. There was an optional walk early in the morning; we climbed a few steps to be rewarded by a great view of the crescent bays of the island and by Sullivan lava flow on the neighbor island of Santiago.
Breakfast gave us the energy to go back to Bartolome, but this time to enjoy some swimming and snorkeling. The glass bottom boat was also an option, and every one had the opportunity to enjoy the marine life from different perspectives. We also had the option of walking up a sand dune to the other side of Bartolome, where we encountered this American oyster-catcher, which did not care at all about our presence on the beach.
The afternoon found us on Santiago Island, to have some more swimming and snorkeling among sea lions and marine turtles. The last walk of the week was magnificent. Marine iguanas were sunbathing along the coastal trail, and many shorebirds were the delight of bird watchers. At the very end, fur seals stole the show. It was a good day!
