Kythnos Island

Believe it or not, but we have come to the last day of our journey!

After a busy week, we spent the morning in a relaxing matter on the beach. After sleeping in and eating breakfast, our guests took shuttles to the beach where the enthusiastic could kayak, hike or snorkel, while the less energetic could simply enjoy the sun and the sand .At mid-day a surprising change of weather brought us some rain (much needed for the islands I might add) and we headed back to the ship for a tasty Greek lunch.

In the afternoon, just after siesta time, our excellent Greek guides Laura and Smaragda held a Q&A session where the still curious could get their last questions answered. And as the afternoon turned into evening, we all raised our glasses and proclaimed a last ”yamas,” cheers, at the Captain’s goodbye cocktail party.

Our week on the ship has taken us to large, famous islands such as Myknos and Santorini, as well as lesser-known gems such as Folegandros and Sifnos. We have visited churches, villages and locals shops, been swimming, kayaking and lounging on the beach all the while covering a large part of the Cyclades.

However, as the sun sets on our last day on the ship and our final dinner is accompanied by cheerful conversations, laughter and exchanging of emails, I realize that despite all the distance we covered and places we have seen during our week there might be some truth to the saying: ”A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.”
