Armadale to Eigg & on to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull

Early in the morning the Lord of the Glens sets off for Eigg. After breakfast we have various options for exploring the island. John Chester, the local Scottish Wildlife Trust warden’s walking tour, Dave’s land-rover tour or your own individual tour. The weather stayed dry for us and the shop with the excellent coffee shop and lovely cakes soon opened up as well. Even minke whales were spotted by some of the passengers.

Shortly after our departure from the island lunch was served and Carol did a visual talk on the first people of Scotland and the coming of Christianity, whilst we sailed passed the most westerly point of the British mainland and Ardnamurchan point to Tobermory.

This pretty place is very photogenic with its multi-coloured houses. Konia led a historical/horticultural town walk and later on Carol took the fans of lighthouses and those in need of more rigorous exercise to Rubha nan Gall, a lighthouse dating back to 1857.

In the evening after dinner, many of us went off to the Mishnish bar – a real island pub.  And tomorrow Iona beckons – what a great way to travel!
