Trinidad schoolchildren bid our party "bon voyage" as we depart for a sunset cruise into the famed Caroni Swamp. We spent a delightful couple of hours cruising through the mangrove channels viewing numerous species of egrets, herons and the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago, the dramatic and colorful scarlet ibis.
To our delight, the schoolchildren who bade us farewell also joined us on a boat tour of the Caroni Swamp and we were all treated to hundreds of scarlet ibis flying into their nighttime roost among the mangroves. A special way to end the day.
