At first light, guests were welcomed to Fox Creek by a low fog over her lush forest. Guests took in the beautiful area by kayaks and interpretive walks around the island. Exploring the area by kayaks allowed guests a great opportunity to see many of the intertidal species. During the hike to Fox creek, guests saw perennial bear tracks, learned about this unique ecosystem, and saw many species of local flora and fauna.
After repositioning to the Inian Islands, the afternoon was spent in the Zodiacs exploring. Here they were able to see sea otters caring for their young amongst the kelp, large groups of Steller sea lions on the rocks and feeding on rockfish, while harbor porpoises pushed Pacific herring to the surface where black-legged kittiwakes were happy to join in on the feast. A true feeding bonanza.
