After five hours of navigation, we anchored at Floreana Island in the south of the archipelago. We began our day at Post Office Bay, a historic landing spot for sailors and explorers. We started with some early kayaking and stretching activities at Post Office Beach. The post office barrel has a tradition of a hand-delivery system, and we left behind mail and took some with us to deliver back home. This system was started by whalers in the 1800s and continues today.
Our day continued with amazing snorkeling by Champion Islet, a hotspot of diversity for marine life. Its location in the middle of ocean currents offers optimal conditions for all sorts of marine life. We concluded our day with a wonderful walk over Cormorant Point. A peninsula located on the north side of the island offers a great diversity of wildlife, from pink flamingos to an active herd of green turtles.
