Floreana was one of the first islands to be colonized by Ecuadorian people, and when they came they bought with them domestic animals that later became a big problem for the native and endemic flora and fauna of this archipelago. The Galapagos National Park has undertaken a very important mission in restoring this fragile ecosystem, and hopefully in a near future we may see the mockingbirds and giant tortoises from Floreana Island roaming in the wild once again.

This morning we disembarked to explore a white coralline beach, which is a very important nesting ground for the Pacific green sea turtles. There were not many new nests, but there were frigates all along the beach waiting for baby turtles to emerge out of their nests.

Later in the morning we went to a small Island known as Champion Island. Once at this location we took our Zodiacs and went out to look for the Floreana mockingbird. This bird was able to survive in a very small number and hopefully in time they will be back on their home island. Along its cliffs we also spotted lots of sea birds next to Galapagos sea lions and marine iguanas which were land basking under our Galapagos tropical sun.

Our last morning activity took place at the same location, but this time we went out for snorkeling with sea lions, sharks, rays, turtles, and big schools of several species of fish. Before returning back to the ship we had the opportunity to snorkel with a big pod of bottlenose dolphins. It was a very magical moment.

After a short navigation, we arrived at a very famous place known as Post Office Barrel, this bay has been visited by whalers, explorers and first settlers for more than a hundred years.  It is also the oldest mailing system in South America. After a short visit we went off the beach for kayaking and Zodiac riding in a place with lots of small islets and rocks.

It was extraordinary to enjoy the present of giant Mega sperm prickly pear cactus, mangroves cover with hundreds of cattle egrets, boobies resting on the rocks and many small sea lions colonies as well.

In the water we also spotted eagle rays, sharks and turtles.

To end our day, we opened our bar on the sky deck and there we were enjoying the beauty and the mysteries on this enchanted archipelago with our dear guests.
