Today we woke up on the western realm, right in the hot spot of the Galapagos. This is the place that gave birth to the archipelago, and this morning we set foot on the youngest island of them all, Fernandina Island.
During our hike this morning, we encountered hundreds of marine iguanas, flightless cormorants feeding their young and mating, sea lions resting and nursing and Galapagos Hawks scanning the area for food. The rest of the morning was spent in the water snorkeling with sea turtles, sea lions, penguins and big schools of fish around us.
The afternoon was filled with more wildlife during an afternoon Zodiac ride along the edge of Ecuador Volcano, and the day ended with a sunset wine tasting while crossing the equatorial line. Another magical day in the Enchanted Islands!
